EEK Complies with New Privacy Laws Before They Come Into Force
The Privacy Amendment Act 2025 Part 1 came into force 1 May 2026. EEK updated its privacy policy and portal processes to meet the new IPP 3A indirect collection obligation — proactively.
New Privacy Law. EEK Was Ready.
The Privacy Amendment Act 2025 introduced IPP 3A — a new obligation requiring businesses to notify individuals when their personal information is collected indirectly (for example, when a fleet manager books on behalf of a driver, or when an insurer provides personal details about their policyholder). This obligation came into force on 1 May 2026.
EEK updated its privacy policy and portal processes before the effective date to meet this requirement. Pre-contract callers receive clear notification about how their information is collected, what it is used for, and how they can exercise their rights. Sub-account contacts whose details are provided by a third party receive an automated notification that their information is being held.
For Customers and Third Parties
If your information was provided to EEK by someone else — your employer, your insurer, a rental company — you will receive a notification explaining what was provided and why. EEK does not hold personal information about people without their awareness. Compliance with the new law is not a checkbox exercise; it is built into the standard job creation workflow.
